8 Mansions & Feng Shui

Map your personal Kua to the eight directional energies. Place where you sit, sleep, and work to amplify growth, health, relationships, and focus—while avoiding loss and friction.

How 8 Mansions Works

8 Mansions assigns eight directional “seats” around you. Your personal Kua sorts these seats into four favorable and four unfavorable energies. The goal is simple: face or occupy favorable directions for key activities, and buffer the rest.

1) Personal Kua

Find your Kua with the calculator (Li Chun aware). East Group: 1, 3, 4, 9. West Group: 2, 6, 7, 8 (5 maps to 2 ♂ / 8 ♀).

2) Match Directions

Each Kua maps the eight directions into distinct outcomes (below). You choose which energy to “use” for a task.

3) Place Activity

Set bed headboard, desk facing, stove, and door use to harness Sheng Qi, Tian Yi, Yan Nian, or Fu Wei.

The Eight Directional Energies

Favorable

  • Sheng Qi — Growth, ambition, wealth creation. Best for the desk facing, main door use, sales calls.
  • Tian Yi — Health, recovery, stability. Best for the bed headboard, healing corners.
  • Yan Nian — Relationships, networks, trust. Best for dining, meeting zones, family areas.
  • Fu Wei — Focus, study, meditation. Best for learning, writing, strategy thinking.

Unfavorable

  • Jue Ming — Major loss, critical setbacks. Avoid for bed/desk/main door.
  • Liu Sha — Petty people, legal noise. Keep to storage or low-usage zones.
  • Wu Gui — Disruptions, accidents, fires. Keep heat/sparks away; avoid stoves here.
  • Huo Hai — Minor hassles, delays. Acceptable for storage or transient use.

The direction that carries these labels depends on your Kua. Get your map from the Kua Calculator, then apply the room-by-room steps below.

Room-by-Room Placement

Bed / Headboard

  • Prioritize Tian Yi for recovery and long-term stability.
  • Secondary choice: Fu Wei for calm sleep and mental clarity.
  • Avoid: Jue Ming, Wu Gui.

Work Desk

  • Face Sheng Qi for growth, targets, negotiations.
  • Use Yan Nian for partnership work and stakeholder calls.
  • Buffer Liu Sha (petty conflicts) with distance or low-usage positioning.

Main Door / Movement

  • Favor Sheng Qi or Yan Nian as primary movement lines.
  • Keep Huo Hai to service or storage traffic.

Stove / Heat

  • Position away from Wu Gui and Jue Ming sectors.
  • Use Tian Yi if possible for health-supporting meals.

Study / Children

  • Fu Wei for focus and exam preparation.
  • Sheng Qi for competitive progress and scholarships.

Meetings / Dining

  • Yan Nian to build trust and smooth communication.
  • Avoid Liu Sha to reduce politics and petty quarrels.

FAQs

My bed can’t face a favorable direction. What now?
Use a favorable headboard direction first. Then place a side table or supportive element in a favorable sector to stabilize the field.
My room is small. Do small shifts matter?
Yes. Even a 10–15° swivel can redirect your facing. Use the best available option and buffer the rest.
Do I change placements yearly?
Your Kua map stays constant. You may layer annual adjustments later (e.g., Flying Stars). Start with stable 8 Mansions fundamentals.
Personal Kua vs House Kua?
Personal Kua guides you. House Kua relates to the building’s facing and layout. Combine both for decisions; start with personal placement first.
