Calamity and Health Flags.Use caution without manufacturing fear.

Calamity Sha, Sickness Charm and Death Charm (災煞 · 病符 · 死符) are traditional risk markers. Their names preserve historical language; they cannot diagnose illness, predict an accident or determine lifespan.

These markers are not medical findings. Never use them to tell someone that illness, injury, death or catastrophe will occur—or to discourage professional care.
Three cautious lenses

Risk awareness is useful only when it improves real behaviour.

Calamity Sha frames disruption and situational safety. Sickness Charm frames maintenance, fatigue and attention to wellbeing. Death Charm is a severe historical label for a separate annual position; it does not describe death and must never be read literally.

Calamity Sha follows a four-group trine formula. Sickness Charm sits one Branch behind the Year anchor, while Death Charm sits five positions ahead in the declared annual sequence.

Translate symbolism into ordinary safeguards: professional healthcare, adequate rest, safe procedures and contingency planning.

Complete Year-Branch lookup

Three markers, three clearly stated functions.

Use the natal Year Branch, read each target and check it separately.

Four-step method

Calculate the symbol, then return to observable reality.

01 · ANCHOR

Find the Year Branch

Use the natal Year Branch for this declared lookup.

02 · TARGETS

Read all three

Keep the trine formula and annual offsets separate.

03 · LOCATE

Check presence

Label natal and timing placements accurately.

04 · VERIFY

Use real evidence

Assess symptoms, fatigue, environment and safety through appropriate methods.

Practical applications

Convert anxious symbolism into sensible care.

Healthcare

Respond to evidence

Arrange qualified assessment for symptoms instead of interpreting a star.

Capacity

Protect recovery

Monitor workload, sleep and fatigue before reduced capacity compounds risk.

Safety

Follow procedures

Use training, protective equipment and normal transport or workplace controls.

Planning

Maintain contingencies

Keep emergency contacts, insurance and essential information orderly.

Worked example

A Rat Year Branch returns Horse, Pig and Snake.

For Zi: Calamity Sha is Wu, Sickness Charm is Hai and Death Charm is Si.

From lookup to responsible care

Year Branch子 Zi · Rat is the natal Year Branch.
Calamity ShaThe trine lookup returns 午 Wu · Horse.
Sickness CharmOne Branch behind Zi is 亥 Hai · Pig.
Death CharmFive positions forward returns 巳 Si · Snake.
VerificationCheck actual wellbeing and safety conditions. The calculation itself diagnoses and predicts nothing.
Medical and safety safeguards

Chart symbolism must never override healthcare.

No diagnosis

The stars cannot identify a disease, condition or cause of symptoms.

No death prediction

Death Charm does not determine death, lifespan or mortality.

No accident prediction

Calamity Sha cannot prove that an accident or disaster will happen.

No treatment changes

Never start, delay or stop treatment because of metaphysical timing.

No fear marketing

Do not use severe names to sell cures, rituals or urgent consultations.

Use professional help

Seek qualified care for symptoms, emergencies or safety concerns.

Symptoms require healthcare. Hazards require controls. Uncertainty requires evidence—not prediction.

Quick FAQ

Severe names require restrained interpretation.

Do these stars mean I will become ill?

No. They cannot diagnose or predict illness.

Does Death Charm predict death?

Absolutely not. It is a historical label for a calculated position, not a mortality indicator.

Which Branch anchors the calculation?

This page uses the natal Year Branch and shows each target explicitly.

What if several markers appear together?

Do not multiply the danger. Strengthen ordinary health, rest and safety practices while responding only to real evidence.

When should I seek medical care?

Whenever symptoms, injury or health concerns warrant it—regardless of whether any derived star appears.
