What you are seeing
The grid is south-up. Each palace shows its permanent Base star, Mountain star, and Facing star. Compass letters are highlighted blue for Facing and green for Sitting.
What affects the result
The correct Period, exact sub-mountain, construction history, major renovations, room use, doors, roads, landform, and surrounding activity all matter.
Frequently asked
Before you calculate.
Do I need exact degrees?
You need the correct sub-mountain—such as N1 rather than N2 or N3. Degrees confirm which one applies and are especially important near a boundary.
Which Period should I use?
Use the Period linked to completion or a qualifying major renovation. When the history is unclear, compare plausible charts and seek verification.
Why is north at the bottom?
This calculator uses the traditional south-up Luo Shu orientation. South appears at the top and north at the bottom.
