Goat Blade.Power becomes useful when it accepts discipline.

Goat Blade (羊刃), or Yang Ren, marks an intensified expression of a Yang Day Master at its peak Branch. It can describe courage, force, decisiveness and resistance under pressure. It is not proof of violence, injury, misfortune or a dangerous personality.

Chinese · 羊刃 / 陽刃Pinyin · Yáng RènKey · Day StemRule · Five Yang Stems
A blade is capacity under concentration. Character is shown by how that force is governed.
What the marker signifies

Read concentrated self-force—not automatic aggression.

刃 means blade. The common character 羊 is often treated as a phonetic form of 陽, “yang,” so the name is also written 陽刃: Yang Blade.

Structurally, the marker is associated with the peak phase of five Yang Day Stems. Constructively it can support courage, endurance, decisive action, protection and command. Its shadow may appear as excess force, impatience, rivalry, refusal to yield or action that outruns judgment.

Goat Blade is secondary to the chart’s seasonal strength, useful and unfavourable dynamics, combinations, clashes and actual conduct. The same marker can be productive in one structure and costly in another.

Common Zi Ping lookup

Find the Day Stem, then scan all four Branches.

Under the classical five-Yang-stem convention, Yin Day Masters do not receive Goat Blade. Some modern schools publish expanded yin-stem analogues; do not combine the two systems silently.

甲 Jia · Yang Wood卯 Mao · Rabbit
丙 Bing · Yang Fire午 Wu · Horse
戊 Wu · Yang Earth午 Wu · Horse
庚 Geng · Yang Metal酉 You · Rooster
壬 Ren · Yang Water子 Zi · Rat

Common rule: 甲→卯, 丙→午, 戊→午, 庚→酉, 壬→子. Yin Day Stems: no Goat Blade under this convention.

Reading method

Locate force, then examine whether the chart can govern it.

01 · IDENTIFY

Find the Day Stem

Use the Heavenly Stem of the natal Day Pillar—not the Year Branch.

02 · MATCH

Find its Blade Branch

Use the five-stem lookup without adding a yin-stem variant.

03 · LOCATE

Scan all four Branches

Note whether the target appears in the Year, Month, Day or Hour.

04 · INTEGRATE

Read the structure

Assess season, strength, restraint, outlet, role and lived behaviour.

Practical applications

Convert force into deliberate capacity.

Leadership

Carry pressure cleanly

Use decisiveness to protect standards without dominating people.

Conflict

Pause before escalation

Separate necessary firmness from pride, reaction and needless contest.

Execution

Give force a channel

Direct intensity toward training, difficult work and clear objectives.

Restraint

Build governing systems

Use rules, review and trusted feedback before high-consequence action.

Worked example

A Geng Day Master finds Goat Blade at Rooster.

For a 庚 Geng Day Stem, the common target Branch is 酉 You · Rooster.

From lookup to structural reading

Anchor庚 Geng is the natal Day Stem.
TargetThe table assigns 酉 You · Rooster.
PresenceCheck whether You appears in any of the four natal Branches.
InterpretationThen assess season, strength, restraint and actual use of force.
Interpretive safeguards

Intensity is not a diagnosis or a sentence.

No violence prediction

Goat Blade does not prove aggression, criminality or dangerous intent.

No accident prediction

The word “blade” cannot forecast injury, surgery or death.

No single-star verdict

Seasonal strength and the complete chart remain primary.

Separate from the pattern

A Goat Blade marker is not automatically a formal Goat Blade structure.

State the convention

This page uses the classical five-Yang-stem rule; expanded tables differ.

Observe conduct

Real decisions and self-regulation matter more than symbolic labels.

Strong force needs a clear purpose, a clean channel and reliable restraint.

Quick FAQ

Goat Blade describes concentrated force—not inevitable harm.

How do I find Goat Blade?

Use the natal Day Stem. Under the five-Yang-stem rule: Jia sees Mao, Bing and Wu see Wu, Geng sees You, and Ren sees Zi.

Do Yin Day Masters have Goat Blade?

Not under the convention used here. Some schools provide analogous branches for Yin Stems, so the selected rule must be stated.

Is Goat Blade always unfavourable?

No. Its expression depends on the complete chart, the role of concentrated self-force and how it is governed.

Is Goat Blade the same as Goat Blade Pattern?

No. A located marker and a formal Month-based structural pattern are related concepts but not interchangeable.

What is the practical response?

Give intensity a worthy objective, decision rules, recovery and accountable feedback.
