Separating Edge (隔角), or Ge Jiao, is a Year-Branch-derived annual caution marker associated in modern tables with misunderstandings, arguments, obstacles and disputes arising from poor communication. It does not guarantee separation, litigation or career failure.
The practical problem is not separation itself, but the gap no one names.
隔 means to separate or place a barrier between; 角 can indicate an angle, corner or point of friction. In the annual auxiliary-star convention used here, the image becomes a useful prompt for communication gaps, competing interpretations and obstacles that grow around unclear expectations.
Constructively, it supports precise language, documented agreements, early boundary-setting and direct repair. Its shadow is withdrawal, adversarial thinking, needless argument or turning a misunderstanding into a permanent division.
Some traditional sources also use the name 隔角 for a separate Day-Branch-to-Hour-Branch rule. This page does not combine that formula with the declared Year-Branch annual-star lookup.
