Sky Horse.Movement with direction.
Sky Horse (天馬), or Tian Ma, is a Year-or-Day-Branch movement marker associated with travel, relocation, mobility, changing roles and opportunity created through motion.
Movement creates options only when it has a destination.
Tian Ma is traditionally associated with journeys, relocation, commuting, changing environments and a life pattern that becomes more active when circumstances are in motion.
In modern life, it may describe international work, logistics, field assignments, career transitions or expansion into a new market. Motion can also become costly restlessness when there is no strategic reason to move.
Calculate the marker first, then verify it through actual journeys, transitions, mobility demands and measurable outcomes.
Each Three-Harmony group points to one travel Branch.
Use the Year Branch or Day Branch as the declared anchor, identify its trine group, then seek the opposing travel Branch anywhere in the chart.
| Anchor Branch group | Sky Horse Branch | Elemental frame |
|---|---|---|
| 申 Shen · 子 Zi · 辰 Chen | 寅 Yin · Tiger | Water frame |
| 寅 Yin · 午 Wu · 戌 Xu | 申 Shen · Monkey | Fire frame |
| 巳 Si · 酉 You · 丑 Chou | 亥 Hai · Pig | Metal frame |
| 亥 Hai · 卯 Mao · 未 Wei | 巳 Si · Snake | Wood frame |
Travel rule: 申子辰→寅 · 寅午戌→申 · 巳酉丑→亥 · 亥卯未→巳.
Locate the horse, then examine what movement changes.
Choose Year or Day
Declare which Branch convention you are using before calculation.
Find the trine
Place the anchor inside one of the four Three-Harmony groups.
Seek the travel Branch
Check whether the group’s movement target appears in the natal branches.
Test the movement
Look for actual travel, relocation, changing roles, market expansion or restless motion.
The pillar suggests where movement and transition concentrate.
Public movement
Movement through family, community, travel networks or public environments.
Career mobility
Career mobility, changing teams, assignments, clients or professional locations.
Home and partnership
Movement affecting home, partnership, daily routines or personal direction.
Future movement
Future travel, enterprise, children, later-life movement or long-range plans.
Movement, opportunity and achievement are different functions.
Sky Horse · 天馬
Mobility and transition derived from a trine-group travel formula.
Traveling Horse · 驛馬
A related or synonymous movement marker in many traditions; verify the source convention before counting it separately.
Timing activation
A natal marker and a Branch arriving through a Luck Pillar or year are different layers and must be labelled clearly.
Capacity and execution
The core chart shows whether movement is resourced, productive and sustainable.
A Zi anchor places Sky Horse at Yin.
Zi belongs to the 申子辰 Water frame, whose travel Branch is 寅 Yin.
From trine group to observable movement
Movement becomes valuable when it serves a clear objective.
No success guarantee
The marker does not guarantee promotion, profit or successful relocation.
No forced relocation
Presence of the marker does not mean a person must move home or country.
No motion worship
Staying put may be wiser when movement has no strategic purpose.
No preparation shortcut
Travel and transition still require money, documents, timing and contingency plans.
No single-star reading
Read the full chart, timing context and practical constraints first.
No restlessness romanticising
Repeated motion can be avoidance rather than progress; verify the outcome.
Read Sky Horse as a movement question: what must change location, role or pace—and what outcome should that movement produce?

Does Sky Horse guarantee overseas travel?
No. Movement may be local, professional, logistical or internal to a role rather than international.
Is Sky Horse the same as Traveling Horse?
In many traditions Tian Ma and Yi Ma overlap or function as related movement labels. This page uses the standard trine-group movement formula and does not count both automatically.
Which Branch should be used as the anchor?
Year-Branch and Day-Branch conventions both exist. Declare the method and do not switch anchors to force a result.
Why are the targets Yin, Shen, Hai and Si?
They are the four travel branches derived from the Three-Harmony groups.
What if the target Branch is absent?
The natal presence test is not met under the chosen anchor. A timing layer may introduce it temporarily, but that is a separate reading.
