Thriving (祿神), or Lu Shen, is the Branch where the Day Stem reaches its 临官 Lin Guan—“Taking Office”—stage. It is traditionally associated with livelihood, usable capacity, support, earned standing and access to resources. It does not guarantee wealth.
To thrive is to have enough usable support to keep contributing.
祿 historically refers to stipend, emolument or the material support attached to office. In BaZi, Lu Shen is the Earthly Branch where a Heavenly Stem reaches the Lin Guan stage of the Twelve Growth Phases. It therefore represents rooted capacity before it represents money.
Constructively, it can describe self-support, productive skill, livelihood, access to resources and the ability to carry responsibility. Its shadow may appear as attachment to security, territorial behaviour, complacency or mistaking possession for competence.
