• Shared base: both transmit the Received Text plus Wings, but with different voice, emphasis, and formulae.

2) What these translations actually do (de-poetized)

1. Choose voices for key nouns: 君子 → “superior man” / “noble man”; 小人 → “inferior/small man” — risks moralizing the operator rather than tagging behaviors.
2. Normalize formulas: 利贞/利貞 → “Perseverance furthers” (really “favorable to maintain stance”); 无咎/無咎 → “No blame” (really “no penalty attaches”).
3. Embed priorities: Legge leans philology and moral-historical framing; Wilhelm/Baynes leans imagery and invites psychological readings.
