Which mode should most people choose?
Choose Lunar New Year for the familiar Chinese zodiac convention. Choose Li Chun when you specifically want the BaZi solar-year boundary.
Why is birth time optional?
Most dates are comfortably away from the boundary. Time matters when the birth falls very close to Chinese New Year or Li Chun. A blank time is interpreted as 00:00 local.
Why can a January or February result differ from the Gregorian year?
Neither Chinese New Year nor Li Chun begins on January 1. A birth before the selected boundary remains in the preceding zodiac year.
Does the animal sign replace a BaZi chart?
No. The animal sign is one annual layer. A BaZi chart also examines month, day, and hour pillars, with the Day Master as a central reference.
