Moon Sha.Name the drag before it quietly shapes the decision.

Moon Sha (月煞), or Yue Sha, is a Year-Branch-derived caution marker associated with subtle obstruction, emotional drag, recurring friction and setbacks that may be difficult to locate at first. It does not predict illness, relationship failure or harm to women or family members.

What feels hidden is not necessarily mystical. Trace the pattern, identify the constraint and test a smaller response.
What the marker signifies

When resistance is quiet, observation must become more precise.

月煞 combines Moon with Sha, a traditional label for a challenging influence. Its image is often applied to less visible forms of friction: emotional heaviness, indirect obstruction, hesitation or a recurring problem that does not announce its cause clearly.

Constructively, it supports emotional literacy, pattern tracking, patience and timely adjustment. Its shadow is projection, passivity, private resentment or treating an uncomfortable feeling as proof of external danger.

This page uses the Year-Branch convention in which Moon Sha sits opposite the storage Branch of the relevant trine. It is not the same marker as 太陰 Moon, 月空 Month Emptiness or a lunar-month calculation.

Quick FAQ

Moon Sha is a subtle-friction prompt—not a verdict.

How do I find Moon Sha?

Find the natal Year Branch in the table, note its Moon Sha Branch and check whether that Branch appears elsewhere in the natal chart.

Is Moon Sha the same as 太陰 Moon?

No. They are separate derived stars with different formulas and interpretive roles.

Does it predict harm to women?

No. Older gendered claims should not be treated as responsible predictions.

Why are all target Branches Earth Branches?

The formula takes the Branch opposite the storage Branch of each trine, producing 戌, 未, 辰 or 丑.

What should I actually do?

Track recurring friction, clarify assumptions and test small adjustments against real outcomes.

Trace the pattern. Name the constraint. Adjust with evidence.

Moon Sha is most useful as a disciplined prompt for pattern recognition, emotional clarity and measured adjustment.
