Wind moves beneath Heaven: a small but potent influence enters unexpectedly. Gou concerns sudden encounter, early recognition and the disciplined management of something attractive whose future power may exceed its present size.
Meet the influence without surrendering the structure.
Gou means meeting, especially an encounter that was not fully planned. The single yielding line begins below and can penetrate the five firm lines above.
The traditional marriage warning is structural rather than a judgment about women: do not form a lasting bond with an influence whose strength and direction cannot be responsibly contained.
Heaven above. Wind below.
Wind enters everywhere beneath Heaven. Early boundaries matter because subtle influence can spread before its scale is understood.
Encounter reveals potential—but does not automatically justify attachment.
The governing proposition
姤：女壯，勿用取女。
Coming to Meet. The woman is powerful. Do not take such a woman as wife.
The image warns against granting permanent authority to a newly arrived influence simply because it is compelling.
The yielding meets the firm
姤，遇也，柔遇剛也。天地相遇，品物咸章也。
Gou is encounter: the yielding meets the firm. When Heaven and Earth meet, the many beings become manifest.

天下有風，姤；后以施命誥四方。

九二：包有魚，無咎，不利賓。
The influence can be managed internally. Extending it to guests would spread what is not yet suitable.

九三：臀無膚，其行次且，厲，無大咎。
Attraction causes discomfort but has not yet taken control. Awareness of danger limits the damage.

九四：包無魚，起凶。
What should have been maintained has been lost through disconnection.

Protect what is tender without displaying power prematurely. A favourable result arrives through central correctness.

上九：姤其角，吝，無咎。
At the extreme, encounter becomes rigid and unreceptive. The isolation is regrettable but does not create blame.

Evaluate new influence by trajectory, not first impression.

Control access, pilots and permissions before a new tool, partner or incentive becomes embedded.
