既濟Ji Ji.After Completion.
Water rests above Fire: every line occupies its proper alternating place, and the crossing appears complete. Ji Ji concerns the demanding moment after success, when vigilance, maintenance and foresight must replace the momentum that created order.
Success changes the task from building order to preserving it.
Ji Ji represents a configuration in which everything seems correctly placed. That apparent perfection is precisely why the hexagram warns of disorder at the end: attention relaxes, small leaks are ignored and yesterday’s solution becomes tomorrow’s vulnerability.
The proper response is not anxiety but preventive discipline. Secure the wheel, allow temporary losses to return in their time, inspect for leaks and value sincerity over spectacle. Finished work still lives inside changing conditions.
Water above. Fire below.
Water descends and Fire rises, creating contact and equilibrium. All six lines are correctly placed, yet the opposing forces require continuous regulation to remain in balance.
Order succeeds through continued attention to small things.
The governing proposition
既濟：亨，小利貞，初吉終亂。
After Completion. Success in small matters; constancy is beneficial. Good fortune at the beginning, disorder at the end.
Correct positions still require movement
既濟，亨，小者亨也。利貞，剛柔正而位當也。初吉，柔得中也。終止則亂，其道窮也。
Success belongs to the small. Firm and yielding are correctly arranged in appropriate positions. The beginning is fortunate because yielding holds the centre; if effort ceases at the end, disorder appears and the way is exhausted.

Keep repair capacity ready even when the vessel is moving well. Maintenance is not pessimism; it is what allows completion to continue.

Timing and sincerity outweigh impressive expenditure. After success, spectacle can conceal the loss of real alignment.
小象傳 · 東鄰殺牛，不如西鄰之時也；實受其福，吉大來也. The western offering accords better with the time; genuine blessing brings great good fortune.

上六：濡其首，厲。
The crossing continued after safety was reached. Overconfidence turns a wet tail into total immersion; the present condition cannot be sustained.
小象傳 · 濡其首厲，何可久也. With the head submerged, how could the dangerous condition last?
Treat success as a transition into stewardship.
Work and leadership
Move from launch metrics to maintenance metrics. Protect controls, succession, reserves and repair capacity before expansion consumes attention.
Relationships
Do not assume commitment maintains itself after agreement is reached. Small acts of reliability preserve what dramatic declarations began.
Timing and decisions
Consolidate before starting another campaign. Inspect the vulnerable edges, tolerate recoverable losses and intervene while problems are still small.
Ji Ji is aligned when achievement produces greater vigilance, not complacency.
