Flying Star Periods 1–9Nine 20-year cycles inside one 180-year system

A building’s natal chart is anchored to the Period in which it was effectively born—or carefully determined to have been reborn. The world is now in Period 9, from 2024 through 2043.

The time framework

Time changes which stars are timely.

Flying Star uses repeating periods to track large shifts in emphasis. A star’s underlying nature remains, while its timeliness and practical role change as the cycle advances.

20 years

One Period

Each numbered Period establishes a time context and a corresponding Base-star pattern for properties born within it.

60 years

One Yuan

Three consecutive Periods form an Upper, Middle, or Lower Yuan—one third of the complete system.

180 years

One San Yuan cycle

All nine Periods complete the full sequence before the cycle begins again with Period 1.

San Yuan

Three great cycles. Nine Periods.

The themes below describe broad classical emphasis. They do not replace the natal chart, landform, star combinations, or the actual history of a property.

How a property gets its Period

Birth, possible rebirth, and non-events.

The current world Period does not automatically overwrite an older building’s natal chart.

Birth

Effective completion

The Period is generally anchored when the building becomes enclosed and usable—roof, doors, and windows complete—or at first occupation under the method used.

Possible rebirth

Major structural exposure

Roof removal or substantial external-wall opening that exposes the interior to sky and wind may support re-perioding after re-sealing and reoccupation.

Usually unchanged

Cosmetic work

Painting, cabinetry, flooring, furnishing, maintenance, and minor internal alterations normally retain the original Period.

Document the evidence: Keep plans, completion records, occupation dates, photographs of structural openings, re-sealing dates, and the scope of works. Lineages differ on thresholds, so do not re-period from a calendar change or small renovation alone.

Transitions & edge cases

When one date does not tell the whole story.

Boundary years

Completion across 2023–2024

Check enclosure, completion, activation, and occupation evidence. If uncertainty remains, construct both Period 8 and Period 9 charts and compare them carefully.

Staged projects

Use the decisive enclosure

For phased work, identify when the relevant property or unit became a complete, enclosed, functioning space.

High-rise units

Separate unit from tower

Building completion matters, but unit enclosure, handover, fit-out, and occupation can require closer analysis than a tower-wide certificate alone.

Test against reality: When legitimate ambiguity remains, build both candidate charts using the same Sitting/Facing axis. Compare enduring room patterns, major events, and external form rather than choosing the chart that simply sounds more favorable.

The current era

What Period 9 changes—and what it does not.

Period 9 changes the wider time context and star timeliness. It does not erase landform, physical defects, natal combinations, or the original Period of every existing property.

9

Star 9 becomes current

Fire, Li, South, visibility, recognition, culture, technology, and future-facing opportunity gain emphasis.

8

Star 8 becomes legacy

Its nature remains useful for stability and assets, but it is no longer treated as the reigning prosperity star.

1

Star 1 becomes prospective

Water, movement, communication, and future opportunity gain importance as the next Period approaches over time.

The essential rule

The world entered Period 9. Your older home may not have.

Establish when the property became a complete, functioning enclosure, investigate qualifying structural change carefully, and document uncertainty before selecting the Period that anchors the natal chart.
