Abundance becomes legitimate when visibility and responsibility grow together.
Da You places Fire above Heaven. Strong creative capacity is illuminated from the highest position, making resources, conduct and influence visible.
One yielding line occupies the central place of authority while the firm lines respond. Possession is therefore organised through receptive leadership, not domination.
The useful question is not “How much do I control?” It is “Can I govern what is available without allowing abundance to distort judgment?”
Heaven within. Fire without.
Inner strength supports outer clarity. Capacity becomes visible and must be governed in accordance with timing and principle.
Receive abundance. Carry it without arrogance. Distinguish good from harm. Align possession with purpose.
Da You describes the responsibility created when resources, authority or recognition become extensive.
Let capacity become useful
Great progress follows when abundance is matched by character, timing and competent direction.
Lead responsively from the centre
Authority can hold much when it listens, coordinates and remains receptive to those it governs.
Use visibility to discriminate
Restrain harmful expression and elevate worthy conduct instead of treating every use of capacity as equal.
Steward rather than possess absolutely
Hold resources as a mandate with conditions, obligations and an appropriate season.

Great Possession: great progress.
Extensive capacity must become constructive and timely rather than merely impressive.
Responsive authority receives support
大有，柔得尊位，大中而上下應之，曰大有。其德剛健而文明，應乎天而時行，是以元亨。
The yielding line holds the honoured central position and those above and below respond. Strength joined with clarity acts in accordance with Heaven and timing.
Abundance is sustainable when central authority remains receptive while the wider structure supplies disciplined capability.
Make value visible and restrain misuse
火在天上，大有；君子以遏惡揚善，順天休命。
Fire above Heaven forms Great Possession. The cultivated person restrains evil, promotes good and follows Heaven’s beneficent mandate.
Visibility creates a duty to discriminate between uses of power rather than celebrating abundance indiscriminately.
Six tests of abundance.
The lines move from avoiding harm through carrying capacity, offering value upward, restraining display, combining trust with authority and receiving support beyond calculation.

初九：無交害，匪咎，艱則無咎。
Abundance is not itself a fault. Harm is avoided when the beginning remains cautious and free from corrupting entanglement.

Possession requires carrying capacity. Strong infrastructure allows resources to move toward a purpose without collapse or blame.

九三：公用亨于天子，小人弗克。
Use abundance as contribution rather than entitlement. A lesser orientation cannot carry the responsibility of offering value upward.
小象傳 · 公用亨于天子，小人害也。The prince presents an offering to the Son of Heaven; for a lesser person, possession becomes harmful.

九四：匪其彭，無咎。
Do not inflate what is already substantial. Clear discrimination prevents abundance from becoming display, rivalry or overreach.
小象傳 · 匪其彭，無咎；明辨晳也。There is no blame in restraining fullness because clarity distinguishes what is appropriate.

六五：厥孚交如，威如，吉。
Let sincerity circulate while authority remains credible. Trust draws out commitment; measured dignity prevents ease from becoming negligence.
小象傳 · 厥孚交如，信以發志也；威如之吉，易而無備也。Trust activates intention; dignity is favourable because excessive ease leaves the field unprepared.

Support arrives where possession aligns with a larger order. Good fortune reflects responsible correspondence rather than private entitlement.
小象傳 · 大有上吉，自天祐也。The good fortune at the top of Great Possession comes from Heaven’s assistance.
Make abundance useful, governable and worthy of trust.

Scale stewardship with resources so that growth does not outrun judgment, infrastructure or accountability.
